SOMANDA Graduation Prizes 2021.

Each academic year, the top performing students from BDS Year1-4 are awarded the SOMANDA Prize for their academic achievements.  The 2020-21 prizes were awarded by SOMANDA President Neil Patel to:  Bilal Sheraz for his 1st BDS results Rose Vatani-Gargari for her 2nd BDS results Nadia Razavi-Fallahieh for her 3rd BDS results Emma Gray for her 4th BDS results Congratulations to SOMANDA Graduation Prizes 2021.

Pamela Hobson 1927- 2021

She had lived all her life in Bramhall, south Manchester, where her father was the leading general medical practitioner. A career in pathology.

I didn’t fully appreciate how hard it was to explain pathology as a career – ‘slides not teeth’, ‘samples not patients’; I don’t think A career in pathology.

It has been a difficult year for many, including students, due to factors alongside the Covid-19 pandemic such as lockdown, isolation, uncertainty and now the fast-approaching exam season.  We are planning an initiative aimed at supporting student’s wellbeing by letting them know that they are not alone in their struggles.   We are inviting you, Alumni. Some current dental students at Manchester Dental School may have heard of Somanda – we are an alumni group of the MDS graduates formed to keep in touch with our fellow students but also importantly to provide charitable financial support to existing students via our hardship fund, travel scholarships and student prizes.
