Dr Margaret Conway RIP.

It is with regret that we inform of the death of Dr Margaret Conway (nee Bromley, formerly Brock, aged 100.

Margaret studied dentistry during the years of the Second World War, graduating BDS LDS in 1946. During her years as a student, she fire watched from the roof of the School of Dentistry and drove an ambulance.

She continued to work in the School of Dentistry as a demonstrator and assistant lecturer, one pf very few women to do so, until the birth of her first of two daughters in 1949.

For most of her career, she worked in the Manchester Public Health Service as a school dentist, supporting new mothers and caring for children in Special Schools. She retired in the 1970s, subsequently living in the Isle of Man and North Wales.

She was one of the earliest members of Somanda, and retained her interest in dentistry until her death.

She was an all-round sportswoman, keen golf player, captaining her club in her 80s and a competitive club bridge player into her late 90s.

Our condolences to her friends and family.
