Visit to Jaffna, Northern Sri Lanka.

by Naomi Rashmini Arnold BDS5

Last August, myself, Ayshvaan Thevarajah (BDS5) and a group of friends who had recently graduated from other Dental schools visited Jaffna, Northern Sri Lanka with the aims of forming links with the communities there and help set the foundations for a sustainable project with the focus of uplifting the oral health of the population.

A summary of our trip was published in a recent edition of the British Dental Journal:

We hope to visit again in 2025, with the aim to reach more people and work with local dentists and Professor Raj Ariyaratnam to set up an ‘Oral Health Sciences Institute’ to ensure the sustainability of dental education and access to healthcare in an area of great need.
